Freeview
The digital switchover is now upon us, with completion date 2010, the analogue signal will be switched off - meaning you will need to have the correct equipment installed in your property.
NO! This does not necessarily mean you will need to get rid of your existing TV, but you will need to have a good digital signal to receive the digital channels. Most new TV's have Freeview built in, but if your existing TV has not, then a simple SET TOP BOX will be required.
A Bit About Digital
Firstly, you will need a good signal, so a new aerial may be a requirement, but with this you get a lot of bonuses - including greater picture clarity. This means ghosting/shadows will be a thing of the past for those who live in bad signal areas.
There is a vast amount to choose from including sports, news, entertainment and radio channels - all for free!
On screen listing makes it easy to view and select what is on now and later throughout the day. Also there is an option for pay per view - allowing you to opt for additional channels.
Freesat
Freesat is a digital service from the BBC and ITV. Like Freeview, Freesat offers a wide range of digital channels but gets its signal via a satellite dish instead of an aerial. Freesat is an excellent choice for those who are in very bad signal areas and struggle to get a good digital signal through an aerial.
